JTECH Grades K-6
J-TECH, our STEM-based, technology-rich Jewish educational program offers an environment in which all children are welcomed as part of a community. Through this community, students:
- Connect to their Jewish heritage as they begin to decode Hebrew prayers, learn about their meanings and practice the prayers within the context of a worship service.
- Through our small-group Hebrew tutorials, students REALLY learn to read!
- Become familiar with the stories and traditions of our people.
- Discover a personal connection to the land and people of Israel.
- Find meaning in tradition through an exploration of Jewish values.
- Interact each week with Rabbi Chizner & Cantor Jacobson.
- Stay engaged using iPads, SmartBoards, and other educational technology.
- Come together for family holiday celebrations and social action projects that complement our school curriculum.
WHEN?
Classes meet 1 day per week – Wednesdays from 4:00 – 5:45 PM
OR J-Tech@Home – Private tutoring in your home at your convenience.
Although we encourage religious school enrollment at kindergarten age, students begin learning Hebrew for Bar/Bat Mitzvah in grade 3. If you have a child who is 4th grade (or older) who has never been enrolled in religious school, please contact the director (Lauren Resnikoff) to discuss our QuickStart Program.
Temple membership is required for grades 3 and up. THE FIRST YEAR OF MEMBERSHIP IS FREE for any new members who sign up with children in grades 3 and lower. Call the Temple office to inquire about other first-year free membership opportunities.
We welcome ALL families and invite you to visit our school in session and/or meet with our Director, to see for yourself why children and parents LOVE Temple Judea’s J-Tech program.
Please contact our Director, Lauren Resnikoff, RJE at 516-621-8049 to arrange a visit.
This year, our students are exploring the stories and values of the Torah through the lens of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Jewish family experiences complement our program.
J-Tech@Home
J-Tech@Home offers families an opportunity to have their children tutored at home, while still being a part of our school program. The Educational Director will match children with a teacher who will prepare and teach weekly lessons at the child’s home, at a mutually agreed upon time. Students will learn Hebrew decoding skills, prayer tunes, and Judaic subjects. In order to connect students with others in our community, students will be asked to attend family learning sessions and community holiday programs. J-Tech@Home students are eligible to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Temple Judea. For more information, contact school@temple-judea.com.
Post B’nai Mitzvah students participate in ongoing experiential learning designed to build a greater connection to their peers, their community and our Clergy. Community service (Tikkun Olam) is an essential component of this program.
WHY J-TECH? Our Religious School was named 2018 BEST OF THE NORTH SHORE!
